The neighborhood of Fraser, found in the northern Clareview section of Edmonton, was named for John Fraser, an original homesteader in the area and one of the first trustees of the Belmont School. (source Wikipedia)
Although Fraser may be tucked away on the outskirts of the city, the residents still enjoy quick access to the Manning Freeway, Clareview LRT station and are only minutes away from the Yellowhead Freeway via Victoria Trail. In the next few years, completion of the last section of the Anthony Henday Drive ring-road will also allow very quick access to the opposite corners of Edmonton.
Construction of homes in the Fraser area primarily began in the 1970s and continued on through the 1980s. Home construction continued on into the new millennium in some areas of Fraser.
