Hairsine, a neighborhood in the Clareview area of northeast Edmonton, is a residential area made up of townhouses, detached houses and some apartments centered around Hairsine Park and the area’s two schools.

Transportation in and out of Hairsine is quick, with connections to the Yellowhead Freeway via Victoria Trail and to Manning Freeway along Hairsine’s south and north borders of 144 Ave and 137 Ave. In a few years, the Anthony Henday Drive’s northeast section will be completed and offer even quicker access to other areas of Edmonton. The Clareview LRT station is also located within walking distance to the west along 139 Ave.

Like much of the Clareview area, residential house construction in Hairsine mainly began in the 1970s and was finished by the end of the 1980s. According to the 2001 Federal Census, the breakdown of period of construction of homes in Hairsine is as follows:

• Before 1970: 25 homes (2.5%)
• 1971 – 1980: 585 homes (59.1%)
• 1981 – 1985: 325 homes (32.8%)
• 1986 – 1990: 55 homes (5.6%)

Of the 1,001 homes in Hairsine at the time of the 2005 Municipal Census, 51% of the homes were row house and townhouses (509 homes) and 26% of homes were single-detached houses (261). There are another 183 apartment residences (18%) and 48 duplex/triplex/fourplex homes made up the final 5%. While almost all of the single-detached homes were owner-occupied, 30% of the townhouses and 78% of the apartment-style residences were rented. (Full census documents for Hairsine)

There are two schools in Hairsine, both centrally located around Hairsine Park. John D. Bracco School is a public-system junior high school for students in grades 7-9. St Bonaventure School is a Catholic-system elementary school teaching grades K-6.

The Hairsine Community League operates a community hall and ice rink for residents of Hairsine, Kirkness and Clareview Campus. The league runs activities, sports and events throughout the year. The community hall is located at 3120 – 139 Ave.
