
Clareview Town Centre, a mixed residential and commercial neighborhood in the greater Clareview area of northeast Edmonton, is a relatively newer neighborhood when looking at residential development. While there were a few homes built during the 1970s, most of the homes in Clareview Town Centre were built starting in the 1990s and continuing to present day. The area is also known as Clareview Campus.
According to the 2005 municipal census, most of the homes in Clareview Town Centre are apartments with low-rise (415 homes) and high-rise apartments (123 homes) making up 83% of the total of residences in the neighborhood. Another 9% of homes in Clareview Town Centre are single-detached homes (57 single-detached houses), and smaller percentages of duplex/triplex/fourplex structures (6%, 41 homes) and rowhouse/townhouse homes 3%, 16 homes) complete the neighborhood. There is plenty of shopping to be found in Clareview Town Centre, with a collection of strip malls and commons along the north side of 137 Ave from 40 St to 50 St. There are major big-box stores like Wal-Mart and Superstore, and numerous other smaller chain stores, specialty stores and restaurants in the complex. The Clareview Theatre is also located here, and has 10 screens showing current movies.
Residents of Clareview Town Centre enjoy quick and easy access to other areas of the city. Most of the apartment-style homes in the area are within a few blocks of the Clareview LRT station, and commuters benefit from connections to the Yellowhead Freeway via Victoria Trail and to Manning Freeway along 137 Ave or 144 Ave. In a few years, the Anthony Henday Drive’s northeast section will be completed and offer even quicker access to other areas of Edmonton.
There is a generous amount of park space in Clareview Town Centre, and the continued construction of homes in the area is centred around the paths and open spaces of Clareview Park. The Clareview Twin-Ice Arenas with adjoining skateboard park is found at the southern edge of the park.
There are no schools in Clareview Town Centre.
Residents in the area may join the Hairsine Community League, which runs activities and events throughout the year and maintains the rentable hall and ice rink located in nearby Hairsine Park.
